| Subject: EA's New Question and Answer Site Fri Feb 15, 2013 10:40 pm | |
| Hi all. In my quest to find answers to some members questions about how to install the Sims 2 on Windows 8, I stumbled across EA's new Question and Answer forum, which they label as beta. For the life of me I do not understand why EA did not advertise this new site before they shut the Sims 2 site down because they started this forum July 18,2012, but at least they have it. My guess is that some EA employees came together and requested an alternative help site where fans can go and ask other fans for answers to their game problem for the sites that EA has shut down. That would explain why it is labeled as "beta", because EA has allowed these few employees to monitor and keep this site under the condition that it be used by fans. There are some fans who are very computer savvy, and know the Sims games inside and out and are able to provide successful solutions to any Sims problems, so that makes sense. To access any of the game Q&A forums, click on show more under Browse The Community, and then select the game you are looking for. A few members have tried unsuccessfully to install the Sims 2 games on Windows 8 OS. They were able to install the base game, but when they tried to install any EPs or SPs, the patching process would abort the installation and uninstall the Sims 2 game. Some people I have read that after they installed the base game they were able to have success in installing the EPs/SPs after they had changed the compatibility mode to Windows XP Service Pack 3 (or Service Pack 2), but some said they were not successful with this solution. So the latest and successful solution is found on this new Q&A forum here. Scroll down to the third post by member la214la and follow their instructions on how to get it working. You must have a backup copy of your old game in order to do this, and then you must copy and paste the files that they have listed in order for this solution to be successful. It's great to know now that here is a help forum for members to go to in case they can't find the answers to there questions here on our forum, or even the Sims 3 site. This site will be added to our Links Pages.

| That's wonderful CindaLove! One does wonder why EA did not let Simmers know about it though. Lilly | |
